Taylormade M2 Driver Review 2021

This TaylorMade review will cover both the positive and negative aspects of the M2 Driver. It is your chance to make an educated decision about whether it’s the best option.

Geocoustic technology was used on the TaylorMade M2 Driver. It changed how the sole looks, as well as the sound and feel. TaylorMade has called this driver explosive sound. (they aren’t kidding!)

To maximize performance and forgiveness the Center of Gravity should be fixed at low elevation.

Although the M2 Driver has some adjustment, it is not as extensive as other models.

Speed Pocket technology comes with the club. This was enhanced to give more forgiveness on this Taylor Made M2 driver.

The M2 Taylormade Driver golf club is great, but we’ll break it down to help you make the best decision.

Player Handicap

It’s not to say that a scratch golfer couldn’t use the M2, it’s just that it was designed for golfers who seek forgiveness more than playability.

The Taylormade M2 driver is not for those who want to play the ball well and make intentional draws and fades off every tee. This Taylormade M2 driver is ideal for those with a mid or high handicap.

Unlike previous TaylorMade options, the M2 only comes with an adjustable loft sleeve.

TaylorMade’s past has produced other clubs which allow for the movement of the center gravity.

It is great to be able to adjust the loft of the M2 to get it ready for launch. Loft adjustability is great for players who are just starting out and want to make the most of it.

The M2 driver, as we have already mentioned in the Driver review is quite old. TaylorMade does still offer the M2 driver. However, custom shaft options are sometimes limited.

Good news: The stock shaft option can be used. Standard equipment includes the Fujikura Pro XL 58 Stiff, Regular and Senior Flex.

Other Options

TaylorMade Model M6. The TaylorMade Model M6 Driver is significantly longer than the M2. The M6 is about the same forgiving as the M2 and it costs about twice the amount.

Playing an old TaylorMade Burner Driver can significantly improve your feel and weight.

The M6 model is great for those with limited budgets. It offers all the latest technology and the most advanced features. The sound is also a little better with the M6 model.

Get Price: Cleveland Launcher turbo

The Cleveland Launcher Turbo was released in a different release to the M2 but is similar as far as forgiveness and distance.

Launch Turbo is also available at a comparable price.

Although the Launcher name is more appropriate for beginners than M2, it’s still a good option.

Sound & Feel

The TaylorMade drivers are distinguished by their adjustability. If you’re looking to compare the two, you can find my 2017 M1 review here . Between the two, the M2 has a firmer feel in its face. It’s a different feel but equally impressive. The M2 has a ton of response and still feels very powerful on the ball. Personal preference will determine which one you prefer.

Much like the feel, the M2’s sound is more prominent. The sound of the M2 doesn’t have that classic driving range noise, however the carbon in their crown makes it sound more prominent. It produces a strong shot off sound, which is hard to hear downrange.

I didn’t just copy the manufacturer. But this blurb from TaylorMade about the M2 sound was both fascinating and impressive.

Sunken sole curvature was the breakthrough in acoustical engineering. It makes it more rigid and can better manage impact vibrations. This added stiffness allowed for minimal externalized sound-ribs to produce the best sound quality and feel possible with M2.

Taylormade M2 Driver: An Honest Review

Amazon Associate earns from eligible purchases that are made through our website.

Taylormade clubs have not always been my favorite, but I was quite excited about the M Series drivers. Here is my Taylormade M2 review and discussion.

Because it was easier to hit, I preferred the M2 driver over the M1. In my opinion, it’s a great driver for golfers who need a lot of help with distance and forgiveness. I got a good amount of distance from the club and it was a lot more forgiving than most on off-center hits. The one downside was the price. This is a fairly old driver. This would make a fantastic driver for recreational golfers.

If I had to choose, I would spend more and buy a newer driver. The M2 was great but there were a few other drivers I liked that worked better.

Is M2 Driver Still Good?

TaylorMade’s TaylorMade Driver is a sturdy, flexible, durable, long-lasting and reliable club. Although the technology isn’t the best, this club can be used by mid-to high handicap golfers. The upgrade is well worth it if the equipment you’re using has limited forgiveness and range.

Taylormade’s M2 Driver is Good For Beginners

TaylorMade’s TaylorMade 2 is now even more affordable. The M2’s combination of power, value and forgiveness has placed it in fifth. This driver is aimed at a competent beginner, who is moving towards a low 20-handicap ability. The driver has good forgiving, but it also offers a higher and more powerful flight.

Which M2 driver is the best?

Fujikura XLR8 Pro 51 shaft is ideal for TaylorMade’s TaylorMade M2 driver. You can use it for both a high launch or mid to high spin. You can upgrade this shaft if your Fujikura was discontinued because of its kick.
