CVS no longer cashes checks at its shops as of 2022. Customers will instead need to shop at another store such as Walmart Kroger Safeway Wegman’s or Safeway. CVS accepts personal or business checks as payment.
How can I cash a check in lieu of CVS?
Although CVS does not cash checks for its customers, several other popular retail stores do offer check-cashing services.
Walmart is able to cash various checks such as payroll, government and tax refund checks.
Walmart requires that you pay $3 for check up to $1,000; $6 for checks between $1,000-5,000 in value.
Safeway sells its own printed payroll, and charges $2.25 to cash $200 in government checks.
Kroger shops can also cash government, payroll, refund tax, as well as business checks.
Note that Kroger charges $3.50 for checks up to $2,000 and $5.50 for checks between $2,000 and $5,000 in value.
Wegman’s also offers cashing personal and traveler’s checks in excess of $500 and rebate checks exceeding $20. Shopper’s Club cardholders have the option to cash checks at no cost.
Does CVS Accept Personal Or Business Checks As A Form Of Payment?
CVS doesn’t cash checks, but they do accept personal or business checks in-store as payment for its products and/or services.
You will need a valid government photo ID to pay by check. CVS utilizes the TeleCheck electronic payment system to verify checks, before accepting them as payment.
CVS doesn’t offer cashback if you pay by check. Customers who want cashback must pay in cash or with debit cards.
What Kind of Checks does CVS Not Accept
CVS can’t accept cashiers checks to pay and CVS stores won’t take starter checks from banks that have just opened.
