Everything You Should Know About Big Bertha B21 Callaway Driver
Callaway’s latest distance driver The B21 driver by Callaway is Callaway’s very first high launch driver. It has an extremely low forward center of gravity, which increases ball speed. Callaway says this new low spin recipe is for accurate distance and speed at the average swing speed.
How much tech?
Like Callaway’s Mavrik driver the B21 driver also has Jailbreak bar behind the head to maximise ball speed. There’s also a stronger and lighter titanium Flash Face, plus a Triaxial carbon crown to help rinse every last drop of performance from the driver.
Easy-to-hit Callaway say the new B21 head is larger from front to back so there’s more of a triangular shape, which ups forgiveness. Every head features an internal draw bias that helps counter a distance-zapping slice.
Callaway Suits created a shaft entirely new for the B21 Metalwoods. Because it is light and slim, with an active tip section, the shaft naturally increases loft at impact. We began the whole B21 Project with an extensive investigation of 17+ handicappers. This allowed us to examine how they actually hit their drivers. Many of the test groups produced between 3,000 to 4,000 RPM, whereas 2,200-2 600 RPM backspin was often considered ideal. The dramatic loss of distance for golfers who both hit down on the ball as well as across the course during delivery is no surprise.
We set out to create a driver that would not only increase distance, but allow golfers to focus more on their targets and avoid the fear of missing a slice. This is our result, the B21.
We’ve teamed a low and forward CG (that’s usually reserved for our fast swing speed Sub Zero drivers) with extra draw bias and a forgiving high MOI performance. B21’s driver provides an unorthodox mix of spin (both back- and side spin), consistent spin and tons of ball speed protector, so our target golfer takes shots from all angles.
This is the first time we have ever created a driver similar to it, and there are currently no comparable drivers on the market.
