Crescent Drive Park Pavilion provides an opportunity to extend into the natural landscape and support all four seasons within Winnipeg's urban forest. New washrooms are available, as well as Parks Service space. Program elements can be used for dual-season functions. The Pavilion is an ideal performance venue that will serve as the hub of a multi-generational community. It is an example of a flexible, emerging social infrastructure designed to support our city when we are outdoors.

Crescent Drive Park has a large mature tree canopy. This is a U-shaped bend of the Red River that runs through Crescent Drive Park. To the north, Crescent Drive Park borders a residential community and golf course. The relationship between park structure and the natural environment has been established by the sculptures found under the shade canopy. With its playful use of sustainable technologies and colour tricks, the pavilion draws on childhood cultures.

Crescent Drive Park

Project Size

261,000 SF. This garage, which is subterranean and has 481 parking spaces, provides parking for the Beverly Hills Theatre and Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts. Since this is the first area that theatre-goers will see the space, the style, location, and colors of the garage have been carefully coordinated with Wallis Annenberg Center. It also involved the relocation of utilities, renovations of City Hall's facade and courtyard to the west, construction of a small, gated parking area for City Council members, and transformation of City Hall's lawn into a park.

Crescent Drive's Parking Garage was built beneath Crescent Drive. The Beverly Hills City Hall Law had to be demolished and removed. MATT took numerous measures to minimize disruption, mitigate noise, smoothly re-routing utilities to avoid peak times, schedule excavation, transport and expedite Crescent Drive's opening. This project team saved significant money for the City by aligning excavation requirements for Annenberg Centre and parking structure. They also created other efficiency through meticulous planning and close collaboration.
