What is The Walmart Point System and How Does It Work?
The Walmart point system is part of the Walmart attendance policy that aims to disincentivize associates from tardiness or unexpected absences.
This was revised in 2019 with employees receiving a maximum of five points. Associate who receives more than five points will be fired.
Associate who fail to show up for their scheduled shifts will be given one point.
Also, employees who leave early may expect half the points, while those with unexpected absences could earn a maximum three point.
How To Report An Absence/Lateness At Walmart?

Walmart: How long do points last?
Points do not accrue continuously over the duration of an associate’s time at Walmart.
To make the system fair and to allow for any unexpected emergencies or obligations, each associate’s points are reset after six months.
The points system doesn’t count authorized absences. So, Walmart employees do not have to worry about losing their job for missing five or more shifts during a six month period for the following reasons:
Walmart Allows How Many Absences
Associate will be awarded a maximum three point bonus for any unexpected absences that occur during holidays shifts, according to the Walmart points system.
If they are not available during trading times, they will only be awarded 1 point. An absence is defined by Walmart as working less than half of a scheduled shift.
So, depending on the types of absence, an associate may be allowed up to five before they face being fired.
Or, they could be absent from one holiday shift and two standard shifts. They will face termination if they become absent unexpectedly from both holiday shifts.
Walmart Rewarding Good Attendance
Walmart has updated its attendance policy and now rewards associates with perfect attendance. It also encourages consistency in attendance.
In 2019, full-time Walmart employees and part-time Walmart employees can receive increased cash bonuses each quarter.
Employees with perfect attendance records are eligible for an extra 25% bonus in their quarterly bonuses. Those with one or two points may also still be eligible for an increased bonus.
Walmart quarterly bonuses are distributed based on a number of factors, the main one being store performance. The year 2019 was the first year of attendance bonuses. Hourly associates were awarded almost $800 million in bonuses.
Walmart: How to Get In?
Walmart employees are expected to clock-in for shifts using the GTA Time Clock app, regardless of whether or not they show up late.
GTA Time Clock apps users only need to sign up with OneWalmart. For verification of their identity, users will be required to provide a unique ID and password.
They can then click on “Clock In,” to start their shift. If they are already clocked, they will be able to select from the various “Meal Start”, “Meal End”, and “Clock Out” options.

Walmart’s late policy uses a points system. Associate that are late for shifts, or who miss the entire shift completely can receive three points. Five points is the maximum they are allowed to receive within six months of their job. Otherwise, they could be fired.
The goal of this policy is to prevent employees from being tardy. Walmart gives quarterly bonuses that are higher for those who run on time.
