Tour Edge Exotics – C721 Driver Review

Tour Edge is a 35-year old company that has had some major successes as well as many industry firsts. The brand’s most notable achievements are the recent years. That is largely due to their presence at the PGA Tour Champions, as well as the fact that they have made clubs top-notch.

Last year was a big one for Tour Edge and the Exotics line where the company saw sales successes the likes of which the company hadn’t seen before, particularly when it comes to driver. THP reviewed both EXS220 EXS Pro drivers. Honestly, we believed we understood the style of design that company will follow in the future. Oh, how wrong I was.

C721 turns everything on its ear. Unique design, built to replicate the impressive success of predecessors. It works.

There is no evolutionary change here. The C721 represents yet another breakthrough for Tour Edge and the Exotics series. This is one of the absolute lowest spinning drivers on the market for 2021, but with a playability that is unheard of for the low RPM’s it pumps out. It has a unique look, but it still delivers the exotics-standard sound, feel, forgiveness, firepower, and performance. This driver is well worth the effort.

David Glod and Tour Edge deserve credit from the top for being able to innovate and design. Yes, there are multiple layers to Tour Edge as a company with options across the spectrum, but the Exotics lineup in particular has always been one that is unafraid of being different for the sake of chasing performance. The C721 driver is that simple.

Diamond Face 2.0, the EXS220 line’s only real design heirloom is its 2.0 version. You can now choose from 7 different thicknesses or 43 diamonds to create variable thickness. Notable is the fact that there were only three thicknesses in the initial version. Even more impressive is through material and design changes, Diamond Face 2.0 has actually reduced the perimeter thickness by 20% according to Tour Edge. Reduced thickness means more ball speed potential, and also more forgiveness particularly at the extremes of the face.

C721 uses an Adjustable Backweight. It optimizes the CG and promotes a smoother launch. These weight options will be offered in five-, ten-, fifteen-, and eighteeng versions, with 10g standard for the driver.

Review – Tour Edge Exotics C721 Driver

More than paint and wallpaper With its beautiful bay windows and stunning views, as well as the hardwood floors and stylish decor, this house will be a home you’d love to call your own. This is true until you actually move in. After a while, you’ll realize how much is wrong with the place. It’s the paint-and-wallpaper effect.

This has happened in some cases while trying out new golf equipment. This is true regardless of whether the equipment you’re using are drivers, fairway or irons. Although a brand new piece may be visually different, performance is identical.

With the launch of the Exotics C721 range from Tour Edge Golf came technical points that made this driver very appealing and a driver that really piqued my curiosity simply because Tour Edge Golf has really been raising the bar every year.

Could the Exotics C721 new driver really be better than 2020’s Teezy Award winner Exotics EXS 220 Do we expect to see genuine, worthwhile improvements or does this years product look more like paint and wallpaper?

***Editor’s Comment: Tour Edge Golf’s Hot Launch C721 collection of products, which was released in the autumn of 2020, should not be mistaken for Exotics C721.

The set-up. Over the last three year, Batavia has seen a lot of success with its golf equipment manufacturing company. Even though the company’s founder David Glod and his team have been producing great and somewhat “under the radar” products since 1986, in my opinion, the last three years have been a whirlwind for them. Sales records have been broken and their products are being played by many players.

Tour Edge Golf showed in 2019, with its Exotics EXS series, that it is possible to provide premium products without charging a premium price. In 2020 the brand had improved significantly from its previous year. Exotics EXS 220 won many Teezy Awards across its product line. There was also a noticeable improvement in the sound quality thanks to Sound Diffusion Bar (S.D.). This technology is used to enhance the sound in recording studios, concert halls, and theaters. It didn’t end there. They also introduced the EXS Pro range later in the season. While I wasn’t able to swing fairway metals or irons during the tournament, I did review and test the EXS Pro hybrid. It was absolutely amazing. While Bernhard Langer, a legend in German golf, was finishing his T29 round in 2020’s 2020 Masters Tournament in autumn 2020 with the EXS Pro hybrid still in his bag.

I, My Swing, And Current Equipment

I am a retired professional engineer in my early 60’s and have been a diagnosed golfaholic for about 35 years now. Local club membership allows me to grip, swing weight and shaft my own clubs. Playing has been a regular activity since last year, with 4-5 times per week. Donald Ross opened the course in 1929. The club is currently home to about 300 avid golfers.

As to my game, I am carrying a 6.0 GHIN handicap and typically play the club’s white tees that measure 6140 yards (from the whites the course rating is 70.0/127 and it’s a par 71). My driver swing speed ranges from 90 to 93 miles per hour. My GHIN statistics indicate that I have hit the fairway 60 percent of the times. A typical miss for me is left, which more like a heavier draw than a hooked. I score 50% on my GIR, am often short on approach shots and can get 30 puts each round.

I have both primary and secondary clubs.

Driver – Cobra BioCell, 10.5 (4,5/585 -6,585 -8,8-PW 32) regular flex 3w & 5, Taylormade V-3-Steels with UST ProforceV2, regular flex 4h – Cobra Ampcell, Cobra LTD with Aldila NVS55 regular flex (3w & 5-W) Titleist 909 regular flex with Diamana S+ regular flex shafts Putter – Tommy Armour No. 3, 33″ Lng My ball of choice is the Snell MTB-X.

C721 MillerLowLife also found the C721 interesting after watching their comparison of Tsi3 with C721. I entered the GolfWRX contest since my LTD was getting long in the tooth and the C721 appeared to be as good as any other driver based on TXG and other reviews. As I normally play my LTD in a range of 9 to 10.5 depending the situation, I chose 10.5 degrees. Ventus Red shaft came highly recommended and I wanted a light and consistent shaft. The quality of shaft options was great and Tour Edge is to be applauded for this.

You can share this driver on other websites. I picked it up today. I’m looking forward to getting the driver dialed up at the range over this weekend. I got the stock smoke 6.5 as I have a KBS TD that I’ll put in it if need be. I was excited to test this driver as it offered a great deal. Also, the reviews are good. I’ve also had several tour edge products. I love them all.

Tour Edge Exotics Driver Comments: The Hot Face. Low spin. Fifteen yards longer than my previous driver. Seriously.

A manufacturer claiming that a certain club or ball is longer than the others makes me skeptical. I can hit 500 yards if all these “yards” are added together.

Because of this, no one will believe what I tell them about the Tour Edge Exotics C721Driver being fifteen yards more than my last gamer. It is, however, absolutely true.

I feel like I can regain some of my lost yardage with the help of the C721 driver and may be able to move back from the senior golf tees towards the mid-tees. Or maybe not. It is fun playing it forward) Drives I hit with the Tour Edge Exotics C721 driver take off quickly on a piercing mid-height arc, approach the ground like a plane coming in for a shallow landing and then roll out. Contrary to my drivers where it behaved more like an F-14 dropping into a carrier before coming to rest as it grabs the tail hook.

I love to watch the ball disappear into the slight depression on the par five third at Washtenaw Golf Club , then roll back into sight as the fairway rises again. It’s gone … and then … there it is. A hole that has been driver-hybrid-midiron in recent rounds has been driver-hybrid-wedge.

Tour Edge has sent to review a 9.5° head equipped with a Ventus 50gram R Fujikura shaft. Tour Edge currently offers 16 shafts. It retails at $399

I think several factors in the distance gain I’ve seen.

Tour Edge Exotics C721 Driver Review

Tour Edge has been in existence for 35 years. Many people don’t know that there have been significant industry successes over that period. For most, however, it is the last few years that have more than likely brought the brand to attention, and that hinges around their PGA Tour Champions presence, yes, but also the fact that they are making clubs from top to bottom that flat our perform.

The company’s Exotics and Tour Edge lines had a great year last year. They saw unprecedented sales success, especially when it came to drivers. THP reviewed both EXS 220 EXS Pro drivers. In all honesty, I thought we’d seen the pattern of design that will be followed for the foreseeable future. But I was wrong.

All of this is turned on its head by the C721 driver. Unique design, built to replicate the impressively successful predecessors. It works.

This is not an evolution, but the C721 marks another major breakthrough in Tour Edge’s Exotics lineup. This 2021 driver has the best spin rate, and is still very playable for such low RPM’s. This driver has outside the box looks, but all of the sound, feel, forgiveness, and sheer firepower we have come to expect from the Exotics lineup. This car is something you should definitely try.

David Glod and Tour Edge, from the Ground up I have to be truthful. They are both incredibly talented at inventing and designing. Tour Edge has many layers, and the Exotics team is no exception. They are a diverse company, with many different options. The C721 driver is that simple.

Diamond Face 2.0 has the only remaining design from EXS 215. With this evolution there are 7 different thicknesses and 43 diamonds on the backside of the face which create variable thickness. It is worth noting that only three thicknesses were available in the original version. Tour Edge reports that Diamond Face 2.0 reduced the perimeter thickness to 20% by making material and design improvements. A reduced thickness can increase ball speed and allow for more forgiveness, especially at the extremities of the face.

C721 utilizes an Adjustable Front Backweight that optimizes CG. This improves launch speed and stability, as well as a higher M.O.I. You can choose from five, 10, 15, 15 or 18 g weight options, with the standard driver being 10g.
