The internet is roaring with comments that “The TaylorMade 300 MINI Driver should be the standard for all TM drivers!” While I don’t mind the white borders of the SIM2 drivers [reviewed HERE ], I prefer the black of the 300 Mini Driver. TaylorMade also reduced the number of crown graphics. The club looks great as a driver. It combines the black color scheme with the minimal graphics, and is smaller in size.

Talking about size: This is something that we must discuss. The Mini 300 Driver’s size is just 307 cm. That makes it about 2/3 as big as most drivers today, who are usually 460cc. Since most modern fairway woodens only require 200 cc to get in, the 300 is almost twice as large. The 300 Mini Driver looks more like a driver to me than a fairway wooden, due to the large face.

The sole of this 300 mixes retro and modern well. The Speed Pocket is clearly dated 2020s.

Last but not least, the headcover. I can’t recall a stock cover that’s been as loudly booed on our social channels, but I have to admit that I like it. It’s the most decidedly retro part of this club, and it flirts with that “So ugly it’s cool” vibe. You don’t have to decide based on where your head is.

The Verdict

Alex wrote this review because it was his favorite. It is where Alex had the most fun with the ball and took the club on the Mannings Heath Golf and Wine Estate.

The TaylorMade 300 Series Mini Driver is a reliable and efficient driver. It also has a nostalgic retro appearance that will be very much in demand.

PS369 is a reasonable price for a driver. The driver can also drive from the ground easily.

It is hard to hit this club offline and it performs arguably better than any club that Alex from GolfMagic has reviewed in the past.

Taylormade Speaks Out on The 300 Mini-Driver

The power of all things is possible. Compact 300 Mini Drivers are built with advanced multi-material materials to provide the perfect blend of low-CG performance as well as high MOI forgiveness. The result is a unique design, which can be played ‘off-the deck’ and powerful off the tee.

“The head 307cc delivers unmatched combination of forgiveness, distance and control. This progressive design breaks the mold and delivers greater forgiveness than a standard fairway metal. The proven corrective performance of Twist Face adds another level of playability.

“The 300 Mini Driver has a smaller stature than it does in strength, but the speed of the driver is impressive.” The combination of a titanium face with Thru-Slot Speed Pocket and sturdiness in high-strength titanium allows for fast ball speeds.

“This is TaylorMade’s 300cc-range first TaylorMade steelwood since 2001. Design and name both pay tribute to the original 300 Series. It was an industry-defining model that launched TaylorMade Golf.

Taylormade 300 Mini Driver Design & Features

TaylorMade created the Mini driver with a retro big stick and a 307cc head.

The original 300 Series is brought back to life by this modern technology. There is much more forgiveness and control in the new version, as well as eye-catching distance.

TaylorMade’s Twist Face Technology, which is now standard in TaylorMade products is now integrated in the Mini Driver. The Thru-Slot Speed Pocket has also been included in SIM 2 and SIM 3 drivers.

The V Steel Sole design is one of the key design features. TaylorMade have come up with a sole plate that weights just 54g to help lower the CG and increase the MOI – producing a high launch with low levels of spin.

Drivers are available in both 11.5 and 13.5 degree angles. The loft can be adjusted up or down by up to 2° depending on your face angle and loft.

MaineMariner: “I just got back from a TaylorMade wood fitting here in Pittsburgh. Truthfully, my main interest was in outdoor Trackman data because it is so difficult to hit indoors on a screen. The Mini was something I really wanted to test out. I didn’t really plan this but it turned out to be $400 better. Although I will post data in the future, I found that I was much more comfortable with the 300 Mini than my Epic Flash driver. The ball went straight through my hands, and I did it over and again. It was amazing to me, a middle handicapper, how fast I could hit the ball. Additionally, the ball is so beautiful it makes my head spin.

bladehunter: “This guy is going into the bag. Hit 20 more before leaving to go to kids b-ball practice just now. I am blown away by this club right from the start. It’s so good off the deck that I only have hit four balls from a tee. It’s not like I hit off a mat. The Bermuda I am on is extremely tight. This isn’t for the mini driver. This is a large 3 wood.
