Taylormade M1: The Bottom Line

By using three very different testers we get three different outlooks, which gives a sound overall opinion to the tests. You should remember that TaylorMade M1’s 2017 driver was the same as M2, which is a very hot, forgiving driver.

Only you are able to decide whether or not your game would benefit from M1’s sliding-weight tech. If you are struggling to decide, don’t worry – you aren’t alone. According to their course selections, tour pros often have the same problem and alternate between TaylorMade driver M1 or M2 depending on what courses they’re playing. Which is a good sign that both drivers can be seriously competent.

Taylormade M1 2017 Review – Driver Review

Michael Todt On this page you’ll find a detailed assessment in our Taylormade M1 2017 Driver Review, the pro’s and con’s and a side by side comparison against other current drivers.

It is fair to say the Taylormade M1 original driver stood the test. Taylormade arguably have one of the highest turnover rates when it comes to new drivers, as the new quickly becomes the old, with newer models entering the fray with incredible regularity. This is a good thing for Taylormade connoisseurs, as it keeps us all on our toes. But it does sometimes feel as though the cash cow of brand adulators is being milked in the extreme.

M1 2017 will be the first M1 2017 since its debut in May 2017. Was this my initial thought upon receiving the M1 2017 in hand?

“What the ballyhoo is the difference between this and the original?” Aesthetically, the similarities are pretty obvious, especially on the crown. However, there are also many enhancements in the bottom, and this is not just about the lime-green color of the sole. Are they enough to justify all of the enthusiasm? Definitely. This should be enough to get those in possession of an M1 2016 driver back to the pro shop. This will be the big question among Taylormade enthusiasts, we think… Taylormade M1 2017, Driver Review included as part of our analysis. Are they able to achieve their goals using the New Taylormade Driver M 1?

Taylormade has named the Taylormade M1 Driver their first “unmetalwood” driver. The driver’s parts are made of lighter metal to minimize the need for heavy metal. New 7-layer carbon composite allowed for a lighter, stronger crown that will increase the clubhead’s speed. The new material helps reduce the CG by shifting all weight down to the base of the head, allowing for higher ball speeds. Taylormade’s new M 1 brand name stands for “multi-material construction”, and this 2015/2016 creation is truly unique.

HAVE A LOOK AT MY FIRST EXPERIENCE WITH THE TAYLORMADE M1 DRIVER

In 2011, Taylormade’s first white Taylormade R11 Driver came out. The driver was unique in its aesthetic design and never had been seen before. This however did cause a split in the golf market. Some people loved the modern white design while others preferred the older look. Taylormade considered all the feedback received and developed a driver head featuring both colors that can adapt to a traditional or modern look. These features are complemented by tech and aesthetic benefits.

The contrast of a black driver face to a white crown continues to provide the illusion of more loft at address, to what is actually available. This gives us much more confidence at address to help us launch the ball with ease. The full crown consists of a split between white and carbon design which is packed with multiple benefits. Contrast in colour makes alignment easier behind the ball. Composite crown is the back feature of the driver. It weighs approximately 10g more than the normal 20, which results in faster club head speeds.

Taylormade R15, the model before it, carried on our sliding weight technology to achieve our ball flight. Taylormade M1 Driver now has two sliding weights. It is called the T Track system and has 25 grams adjustability.

Taylormade M1 Driver forgiving?

Taylormade M1 vs M2: Which is better?

Speed Pockets in both irons provide forgiveness and long distance. The M1 has a more compact head compared to the M2, with a thinner top line and sole. Weight has been taken out of the neck in both clubs – more so in the M2 – allowing for mass to be moved into the backside of the club.Jun 15, 2017
