This driver looks stunning. The drivers look amazing. In terms of the colours, out goes the red and in comes the blue. They have also gone with grey and chalk white finish on the crown of the head instead of black and white.
The crown does have a lot going on, with the usual framing on the face for alignment which I really like. A web design is available on both the crown and SIM, which was created by the Hosel. It’s very similar to M drivers in the past except for the minor colour scheme tweak. But, if you take a look under the club, the design is quite different.
Now for the technology impacting the shape and what TaylorMade have worked so hard on. The bottom of the club looks like a capital T with the Inertia Generator bulking out the back of the head with space cut out either side of the T. You can really see the difference when looking behind somebody as they address the ball.
Surprisingly though, the SIM head seems smaller than it is. This could be because the model’s face height is significantly lower than that of the SIM. The whole head seems a lot shallower and therefore looks flatter, however the face height increases throughout the range.
This SIM is also equipped with sliding weight technology. This is why the SIM cost PS479 and other SIMs come with an RRP PS449.
SIM Max D has divergent top line masking that makes golfers appear opener at addresses than they actually are.
TaylorMade truly has created the modern-day new manufacturers noise’. This is what I call the TaylorMade sound. The sound is more consistent than ever – it sounds less like a whacked than an eerie ping sound. The SIM’s sound was great and felt very comfortable on my face.
Taylormade Sim Driver Verdict
Before this review began, I expected the SIM to be my model. However, dare we say it, it accomplished what it stated too well. My lower swing speed meant that the spin could sometimes drop too low.
However where the SIM Max really impressed me was when I didn’t catch one true. I never got a high spinning shot (over 3000 rpm) and so my distance never dropped.
It was surprising that the mid-range driver performed so well, even though it had to be set to lower spin. Without affecting spin, the Inertia Generator was certainly a benefit.
However, it was extremely difficult to really notice an increase in swing speed due to the shape of the head and the angle at which the Inertia Generator is placed. 20 degrees angle is the best I can find. You may see it in TaylorMade laboratories or at a club where DJ is playing the music “in the slots”, but I don’t think it has the same effect on everyone.

TaylorMade introduces the 2020 SIM Max driver line. First the lower spinning SIM then a more forgiving higher spinning SIM Max and a SIM Max D head to help draw the ball for those that need it.
The SIM driver drivers are all used by the tour players, and we have witnessed them use each one.

Which Reviews Are There?
Some of Taylor’s highest rated Taylors are the SIM. Made driver, given the sample size. You get a score of 5/5 from Global Golf, 4.9/5 at Amazon, and a stunning 4.8/5 (over 200 reviews) on the official TM web site.
Professional critics have given the product very high marks. Website reviewers also gave it excellent scores. The 2020 Golf Digest Hot List awarded it a gold medal.
How can you buy the sim driver online?
There are a couple places I recommend aside from the official Taylor. Made has only the most up-to-date equipment models.
Global Golf is the Taylor pre-owned certified source. Available in used condition. They offer many attractive policies and deals that make for a smooth buying process.
The second is e. Bay. You can find great deals on used and new golf equipment at e. Bay.
A side note. I do not recommend purchasing it on Amazon. They aren’t experts in golf equipment.

Do I Want to Use It?
Yes, I would. I’d put the SIM Max driver in my bag tomorrow, it’s gorgeous looks are matched with its forgiveness and distance and this is all backed up by the numbers.
It will suit most golfers in my eyes and throughout the full SIM driver range Taylor. A number of impressive models have been produced by Made. I believe they will do well on tour as on the amateur markets in 2020.
