Cobra has been a favorite of mine for a long time. Their length and forgiveness were great, yet they still felt very smooth.
Many lower handicap players overlook them because they have great options for the higher handicap golfer. The F7 Driver is lighter and more flexible, with a better launch.
The brand-new arccos Cobra Connect technology is potentially one of the most significant aspects about F7’s driver.
This is a huge jump in technology and the partnership with Arccos has proven so successful that the F8 and F9 have all had this same technology.
Cobra Connect, an application that you can download to your phone, will let you keep track of how many drives you hit. You will still be able, even after reading this King F7 Driver Review, to see how you hit the club.
Arccos allowed it to happen with an added tracker that is embedded into the grip. It sends your phone real-time updates about how well you’re hitting the ball.
While it’s nice to have an idea of how many yards it takes you to hit it or what your shot shape is, it’s even more crucial with adjustable weights.
Design:
You can choose from four different color options when you buy the King F7. Black on Black with Orange accents combo (the Rickie Fowler look), Bright Blue on Black with White and Red accents combo (the Bryson DeChambeux look), a Silver on Black with Gold accents combo (neutral), and now a wood grain finish. We were sent the Black on Black which looks sweet. The Blue on Black combination is also very appealing to me.
King F7 is highly adjustable. The King F7 can be adjusted to adjust the loft or lie in 8 different positions, ranging from 9 degrees up to 12, with or without draw bias. Cobra’s Textremecarbon fiber crown makes it 20% lighter. Cobra also redistributes weight lower, making the club easier to forgive. The forged Titanium E9 face has a variable thickness aimed to make a larger sweet spot across the face making those off center hits still have plenty of distance. You can adjust the center of gravity weight to make it easier for you or your opponent to draw. The center of gravity weight is 12 grams. I wanted to know if you could move this weight. The low and high ball flight settings didn’t make a significant difference to me, but the draw position made a noticeable draw. A little too much for me so I settled in at the low ball flight setting. Making all these adjustments was an easy process. You can use the supplied star-bit screwscrewdriver to make all these adjustments. Not something I’d want to be messing with on the course but it wasn’t bad. The engineering that Cobra has put into this Driver is extremely impressive.
Cobra Golf’s first ever connected club is powered by Arccos. Cobra Connect allows each player to view the drive log and can also be used to make a review of it later. This works great! I think so. However, you must remember that you’re using the app. Tracking your drive at a par 3 isn’t possible so it will be necessary to manually swipe the hole on the app. In my initial round, I neglected to record a few drives. You can have an impartial source telling you precisely how far that monster drive went…or how poorly. Cobra Connect seemed to have a pretty good idea of my distances. Linking your phone to the club’s chip in the grip via bluetooth was an easy process on my iPhone. Then, download the course to your iPhone and you’re good to go. You can keep your phone with you and the phone will track your GPS position so you know where the drive is when it hits. However, I don’t agree with their projected ball flights. Overall though, Cobra Connect gets a thumbs up from us!
