Amazon may be the place you go for everything, but how many times have your hesitated to order an item from them because they had questions about their pre-order policy. We have compiled a list of information to help you make an informed decision before you place your order.
Amazon offers a pre-order policy for thousands of products such as consoles, games, tablets and Amazon products. Additionally, Amazon customers are also guaranteed the lowest price possible with the pre-order price guarantee and will be refunded if the price drops in between the order and release of the product.
Amazon pre-order: how does it work?
Amazon Pre-Ordering is the same as placing regular orders. To begin, search for the product of your choice. Pre-ordering is an option in the section you will see where the item can be added to your cart.
Once the item is in your cart, continue the checkout process as normal including entering payment information and delivery address.
Some items have a release date delivery shipping option while others will either show 2 day delivery with Prime or free shipping with a bit longer delivery date mentioned.
Amazon will email you if any price or shipping information changes occur to inform you.
You also can go into your account and look up your order to see if any details have changed by just clicking on the track button.
Changes to the delivery date and other important information is stored here for pre-orders just as it is for normal purchases.
How much is Amazon’s pre-order price warranty?
When you pre-order an item on Amazon that is sold by Amazon.com, the company has what’s called a pre-order price guarantee on a variety of physical and digital items.
Amazon will reimburse you any price difference between the time you place your order and when it is actually released.
You’ll also see the preorder price guarantee label if your item is part of this program. The pre-order price warranty on Amazon does not apply to products without this message.
If that is true, your refund will be processed within 48-hours of item release.
To receive a refund, contact Amazon for any other payment methods.
When does Amazon take for pre-orders to be shipped?
Amazon pre-order shipments depend upon when you’ve placed the pre-order for the item and whether you’re a Prime member.
Amazon Prime members who order at least a week before publication will receive the item within a few days.
If you are a Prime member, your products will be shipped a few days prior to release.
Additionally, if you are not a Prime member or have waited until the last minute to order, then your item is going to ship on the release date.
Amazon will not ship to your order if you place it after the product has been released. Amazon prefers Prime members to receive this priority.
If this is the case, Amazon does refund you if you paid for release date delivery and your item did not ship out in time for you to receive it on the date anticipated.
Also, Amazon will not refund the shipping if a service interruption occurred outside of Amazon’s control.
Does Amazon limit pre-orders?
Certain items may have restrictions to ensure that every person has an equal chance of ordering the item.
This is what happens most often with consoles that are launched regularly. Only a limited number of units have been manufactured and shipped to Amazon.
